Article about Harold Hines, Thursday, 8/28
Express-News article about Harold Hines by Jaime Castillo:
"DENVER — Harold Hines' journey to this his first Democratic National Convention, and the cusp of American political history, began in 1960." Yvonne Armstrong, Black Caucus, Wednesday 8/27
In an article by Mary Silver in Epoch Times, alamObama member and author Yvonne Armstrong, speaking of Michelle Obama, said, "Every time I hear her speak I feel so proud. Let me tell you something. I was a delegate for Ted Kennedy in New York in 1980, and I've never seen anything like this, the level of excitement."

The Convention exploded with cheers and applause when Ted Kennedy walked onto the stage last night. His speech was inspirational and several delegates were moved to tears. Michelle Obama hit a homerun with her wonderful speech last night. While not all the Hillary Clinton supporters are ready to support Barack yet, across the board everyone I talked to about the speech thought Michelle did a great job. Everyone also thought the children were adorable, especially when they were talking to Barack through the satellite link.
Doug Bineham, Tom Harkin at IBEW Caucus, Tuesday 8/26, 8:57 a.m.
Sen. Tom Harkin from Iowa spoke at the IBEW (Electrical Workers) caucus Monday morning regarding the need to elect Barack Obama and more Democrats to Congress. Sen. Harkin said that Barack Obama has agreed to sign the Employee Free Choice Act Congress will send it to him. He praised labor because it is the labor movement that has been responsible for the creation of the middle class in this country.
The moderator asked those of us who had attended the National Democratic Convention before to say a few words to the first time delegates. During my turn at the microphone, I urged those present to use every opportunity to educate their fellow delegates on the need for laws and policies to protect workers, allow workers to organize and the importance of organized labor to the Democratic Party. I told them that my father taught me that every generation should work to give their children greater opportunities for a better future than the preceding generation. For the first time in our country’s history that is not happening, and we need to work hard to elect Barack Obama to turn that trend around. Judy Hall, Session One... behind the cameras, Tuesday 8/26, 8:27 a.m.
Where was the Texas Delegation? Well, way up in the rafters of the first floor, but what a seat! Above us to the right was the ABC News booth with Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopolous. It was almost another part of the evening to watch these veterans watch Sen. Kennedy. Then, directly above us, the Kennedy family smiled, cried and applauded their courageous Uncle, Father, Father-in-Law, etc. If this wasn't enough emotion, Sen. Biden was just to the right of us sitting with...guess which Delegation: Arizona! I'm sure the McCain protesters were thrilled. He let out numerous wolf whistles and gave the local folks quite a bit of the Joe to come. All in all, we definitely got our money's worth on Day One!
Judy Hall, Arrival, Monday 8/25, 4:17 p.m.
ARRIVAL: By car, By Private Plane and by Commerical Airlines (sadly some were seriously weather delayed), our alamObama Delegates and Volunteers arrived in the Mile High City AND found each other !!! And found each other again and again- At the Delegation Breakfast where we heard Gov Catherine Sebelius, at the Black Caucus where three generations of Cunningham's posed for photos, at the Hard Rock Cafe where we enjoyed delicious desserts with our San Antonio elected officials, on the streets of downtown Denver where there was a Brokaw and Brazile siting and riding the amazing light rail (We really need one of these in the AlamO city!). On the agenda for tonight is Michelle Obama's speech at the Opening Session and the Texas Gala. No doubt, there will be some late night rehashing of both and tomorrow's Delegation breakfast will come waaay too early.
Doug Bineham at the Labor Caucus, Sunday 8/24, 5:18 p.m.
I'm in the Labor Caucus now. American Labor is united behind Obama and FIRED UP! READY TO GO!!!!! Many labor leaders gave enthusiastic speeches, notably John Sweeney of the AFL-CIO.
